It is inevitable that email bounces sometimes will be generated
when sending emails to mailing lists. When sending emails with
MultiMailer via a Google server, you can choose between handling
the bounces manually or letting MultiMailer's built-in bounce
handling handle the bounces automatically.
If you want to let MultiMailer's built-in bounce handling handle
the bounces automatically, you don't need to change any settings
in MultiMailer. But you must add a forwarding address in your Google
email account so
that a copy of a returning email (for example an email bounce) is
sent to the email address MultiMailer uses to collect email
bounces. This way, MultiMailer's bounce handling can handle email bounces automatically and display them in the
bounces list in the
Bounces tab, as usual.
The tip below shows how to set up your Google email account to
forward incoming email bounces to MultiMailer's automatic bounce
system.
1. Open your email account at Google (for example your Gmail
account).
2.
Click on "Settings" (the gear-like symbol) in the top
right of the web window.
3. Click on the See all settings option.
4. Click on Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
5. Click on the Add a forwarding address button.
6. In the input field that is shown, enter the email
address to which all forwards (copies) of incoming emails (including
email bounces) should be sent to.
To find out which email address to use for the input field, you
can open either the E-mail Account Settings dialog box or
the E-mail Bounces Settings dialog box in MultiMailer and
then press the keys CTRL B on your keyboard. An email address
will then be displayed in a small
information box and you can copy it to the input field.
7. Click Next.
8. Click Continue.
9. A confirmation email has been sent to your Google
email address.
10. Click the confirmation link in the email. Then click
the Confirm button.
11. Click OK on the Google settings page to finally
confirm everything.
Now you have done all necessary steps. But you may need to wait
a fee minutes before you can see the changes in your Google account.
